What it does
- Any MoMo wallet on the three networks, or any bank account
- The registered name, looked up before you send
- Limits per transfer and per day, set by the owner
- Big transfers wait for the owner's approval
- The problem
- Paying many people by hand, one MoMo transfer at a time, is slow and easy to get wrong.
- Best for
- Businesses that pay many people: riders, agents, suppliers, winners.
- You can count on
- Live sending stays off until the owner switches it on, with a code from their phone.
In detail
Send money without losing control
Wallets and banks
MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash and AT Money wallets, and accounts at Ghana's banks, from the same request.
Check the name first
Look up the name a number or account is registered to before you send, so money goes to the right person.
Limits you set
The most per transfer and the most per day. Anything over is refused, even with a valid key.
Big ones wait for you
Transfers over your approval amount are held. You approve or decline them, and money is never spent twice.
Locked to your servers
Live transfers need a verified business and an IP allowlist on your live key, so a leaked key can't send from anywhere.
You hear about changes
The owner is emailed when sending is switched on or off, when limits change, and when a transfer needs approval.
From your system
One request per person you pay
Your system sends the amount, who it's for and what it's for. Xtopay sends the money and tells your server how it went.
- From your available balance, in cedis
- Safe to retry with an Idempotency-Key
- A signed webhook when it's sent, or if it fails
curl https://api.xtopay.co/v1/transfers \ -H "Authorization: Bearer sk_live_…" \ -H "Idempotency-Key: rider-0931" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{ "amount": 120, "recipient": { "type": "momo", "phone": "024 555 0101", "name": "Kwame Asante" }, "description": "Rider pay, week 43" }'The owner's controls
Off until you switch it on
Your developer builds it; you decide how far it can go. Live sending stays off until you turn it on, within the limits you set.
- Only the owner switches sending on, with a code from their phone
- Limits per transfer and per day
- Unapproved transfers are declined after 24 hours

Getting started
From test to your first live transfer
- 1
Build with test keys
Your developer sends test transfers. No money moves.
sk_test_…
- 2
Verify your business
Live transfers need a verified business and an IP allowlist on your live key.
Ghana Card and a selfie
- 3
Switch sending on
Set your limits and your approval amount, then turn live sending on.
Owner only
Transfers are sent through the Xtopay API, so you'll need a developer to connect your system. To pay yourself, use payouts.
